From his debut EP “21” to his latest releases, LAIME has moved with an intensity, evolving with each project while carving out his space within Nigeria’s Afro-fusion scene. For “Millions,” he reconnects with longtime collaborator ThrillMax and brings in Jeriq for a record built around ambition, self-belief and the desire to create something bigger than where you started.
“How can we get these millions?” LAIME asks at the beginning of the song, setting the tone for everything that follows. The answer is less about shortcuts and more about putting in the work, staying focused and refusing to let other people’s opinions determine the direction of your life.
Jeriq brings another dimension to that story, blending Igbo, English and Street lingo as he reflects on ambition and his own journey. His references to building an empire, betting on himself, keeping his “fuel” on a full tank and moving from zero naira to millions reinforce the song’s philosophy: believe in yourself enough to become your own biggest investment.
There is also a personal reason behind the ambition. The reference to loving his mother while acknowledging that he is not her only son turns the pursuit of wealth into something bigger than personal gain. The millions represent the ability to provide, create opportunities, build influence and change the circumstances that once defined you.
