If you’ve been paying attention to some of the biggest red carpets and fashion moments in recent years, you’ve probably come across Ugo Mozie’s work.
The Nigerian-born, Los Angeles-based stylist and creative director has worked with everyone from Diana Ross and Jon Batiste to Justin Bieber and Jeremy Pope, bringing his love for bold fashion and African influences into the mix. Here are some of his most memorable styling moments.

Diana Ross knows how to make an entrance; her 2025 Met Gala return after 22 years needed a look to match. She wore a custom Eleven Sixteen gown covered in Swarovski crystal embroidery, finished with an 18-foot feathered train featuring the names of her family members. Ugo Mozie styled the look, which was definitely not meant to go unnoticed.

Jon Batiste went all out for the 2026 Grammys. Ugo Mozie styled him in two custom Eleven Sixteen looks featuring over 100,000 Swarovski crystals, pearls, Colombian emeralds and African gemstones. Basically, there was a lot going on and somehow it all worked.

For the 2015 Met Gala’s China: Through the Looking Glass theme, Justin Bieber wore a custom black velvet Balmain jacket embroidered with golden dragons. Ugo Mozie styled the look alongside Olivier Rousteing, giving Bieber a much more polished take on the theme than his usual streetwear-heavy style.

Jeremy Pope’s 2023 Met Gala look was one of those outfits that practically needed its own postcode. The custom Balmain design came with a 30-foot train made from more than 5,000 metres of silk chiffon, with 70 seamstresses working on it. Ugo Mozie styled the look, which Pope wore as a tribute to Karl Lagerfeld.

Ugo Mozie’s work isn’t limited to red carpets. He handled the full editorial styling for Jackie Chan’s Haute Living cover, showing another side of his work that was less about making a grand entrance and more about creating a look that works for the camera.

At a Louis Vuitton Men’s show, he styled Maluma for one of those front-row moments where everyone is watching what everyone else is wearing. The look brought together Maluma’s Colombian identity with the African influences that often appear in Mozie’s work.

Ugo Mozie has also stepped in front of the camera himself. In September 2024, he made his runway debut for Hugo Boss at Milan Fashion Week. He later styled a Hugo Boss campaign featuring Keith Powers and Khaby Lame. Not bad for someone who usually prefers to stay behind the scenes.

Ugo Mozie’s own street style has also become part of the conversation. During Paris Fashion Week in 2023, his looks mixed African references with contemporary luxury pieces.
VERSACE

He has worked with Versace for clients appearing on some of the world’s biggest televised stages. The pairing makes sense: Versace is already known for bold, maximalist fashion, and Ugo Mozie clearly isn’t afraid of a statement look.

He has also styled Jon Batiste in Dolce & Gabbana, combining the Italian house’s love for elaborate details with the African influences that often inform Mozie’s styling.
And with a portfolio that moves between the Met Gala, Grammys, fashion week and magazine covers, there’s clearly a lot more Ugo Mozie to watch.
