Yemizee, born Victor Yemi Aminoma on December 24, hails from Warri, Delta State, and is signed to independent label Blvck Musik Empire. Known for his versatile vocal delivery, he has been building his name within the local underground music scene. On his new single, “This Town,” he joins forces with Erigga for a street-focused record about reputation, territory, and the determination to hold one’s ground.
The song opens with both artists declaring themselves the ones who run the town. Yemizee and Erigga challenge listeners to name anyone who matches their presence, describing how they arrive in places where people have never heard of them before. Their lyrics take a harder turn as they compare life to war, using images of weapons and opposition to convey the need to stay prepared in a difficult environment. They also assert their familiarity with the streets, telling others to be quiet and listen when an experienced voice speaks.
Throughout “This Town,” the collaboration centres on street credibility, survival, and the need to protect one’s position. Yemizee and Erigga draw on bold declarations and local street expressions to create a record shaped by the realities and bravado of street life.
“This Town” brings the two artists together for a statement of presence, carrying the character of the Warri street culture that informs their sound.
