Conversations With The Ladies Man from Ghana: An AfroSoul, R&B Extraordinaire.

Music is a conversational art, and Jubed is the boss of his art. His emotive vocals, paired with a love-minded pen game and sensual rhythm, can tickle your brain and paint your wildest fantasy. Don’t just take my word for it; listen to his New Track- Kilode, to get a feel of what I mean.

Born and raised in Ghana, Kumasi, Jubed Kyei Baffour—the lady’s man—is now the word on the street. While his tracks and flows instantly place him in the RandB Genre, his gorgeous amalgam of neo-soul, African soul, and pop with a healthy dash of Afrobeat makes him unique. The personality and style he brings to the music scene is refreshing.

Let us enter Jubed’s world and discover the source of his deep well of infectious emotions. In this interview, we explore his roots, muse, and even philosophical ideologies. Join me as we explore the day-to-day lifestyle of this noodles (Indomie) and Burna boy lover.

KUMASI ROOTS, ACCRA BEATS

“It was tough a little bit, my Dad and my Mom are pastors. I’m so proud of them because they used the best they could to give us a good education.” he said when asked about his upbringing.

Jubed reminisced on his childhood experience in Kumasi. From a family of four, he is the only male. The unpredictability of life is what makes life right? He was ignorant of his musical side early—the funny thing is, I never knew I could sing. Jubed’s discovery of his sounds started when he had to channel his emotions into his voice. He made a name for himself a lot of times at school, his voice taking the crowd by surprise.

“I found it in school, and it was during praise and worship services. Everyone expected me to mess up, but I sang and everyone was like, “Wow,” you actually have the voice to sing. And I decided that this was gonna be the kind of thing I wanted to do. After all, I had a good voice. Why not use it?”

Life experiences helped our artist find himself, which alone is impressive.

THE ALIEN WITH STARLIGHT HARMONIES!

When quizzed about having an alien emoji on his socials, he had this to say:

“I feel like I am from a different world, about to create an impact, create a new sound. I am different, I am unique.”

To cause a change, you must be ready to stand out from the crowd. Jubed echoes this ideology not only in his choice of genre but also in his tunes.

We enjoy his distinctiveness, as he also sees it as a way to connect to the world of his predecessors: Burna Boy, Sarkodie, and Wizkid, who all share African roots with the singer.

“I’m a Ghanaian, an African about to take my music to the world. Sitting in the middle of a stadium, watching everyone.”

THE SINGLE- “PICTURE”

Jubed’s covers are the talk of the town on TikTok – the best stage for a short-form spectacle. I have seen his effects on his followers, as his voice and rendition once moved a lady to tears. He has released sweet and catchy covers on the global app, like Lukas Graham, Ayra Starr, Tems, Burna Boy, and many more artists. However, the world wasn’t ready for his first love release, Picture. Jubed later opened up about the name, belonging to his first crush, back home like a sentimental monument that he carried like a torch in his heart.

“She thought I had a crush on her sister when I had a crush on her. So she never gave me any attention. She liked me, but she felt I was into her sister. When I released this song, I went to her DMs, and I told her it’s about you. We laughed about her missing her chance. I would have spoken up, but I was too scared to do that so I put it in a song.”

The lyrics of “Picture” are amazing, and Jubed also shared the love with his fans and people who would listen to this song and be able to give the message to someone, courtesy of him, of course.

STYLE, AUDIENCE AND INTROSPECTION

When quizzed about his style of music and audience. Jubed didn’t hesitate to point out that his style is for the ladies.

My style of music is more for the ladies. I do not know why. Of course, I know there will be a time when men and women alike would love to hear me sing. We always go through changes, and I’m ready for that. Yes. I won’t be the same Jubed as now in the near future.

With the writings on the wall, one would have thought that Jubed was an outgoing or extroverted type. But that isn’t the case.

I’m an introvert. What I do with my time is make music all the time. I do not party or anything like that. I try my best to work on myself, and I pray a lot, too.

PHILOSOPHIES AND BELIEVES

Tomorrow is now.”

Jubed believes that he can thrive in any genre, which explains his versatility as a musician. However, he also craves expression in whatever form, refusing to be locked down to a particular genre.

“The Jubed of now is not the Jubed you’ll see tomorrow,” he said, “ I believe I can grow into anything. I know of what I’m doing now, but I wouldn’t call myself one genre artist.”

Jubed also believed in the style of passing on a message with a vibe. It seemed like that was how he viewed music. A conversational art with a pulse of strings.

“It’s just like I’m giving you a message with a fresh bottle of coke.”

COOK US LIKE YOU DO YOUR NOODLES

The singer enjoys cooking noodles, and even gave us an entire tutorial on preparing his noodles.

I love mine with a lot of vegetables! I chop up onions, green peppers, chicken, eggs, and sausages. I boil the indomie with powder seasoning and some oil to make it sit. Then I sieve and fry it later with the vegetables, scrambled eggs, some more seasoning, dark sauce, and finally, the indomie. And then I eat.

Chicken, sausages, green peppers! Ahan, Kilode! Can someone tell this guy that it is just noodles? But I guess nothing is just ordinary when it comes to Jubed. What else do you expect from someone who calls himself A legal Alien

THE TRACK-KILODE

After cooking noodles, Jubed decided to cook in his new track-Kilode! He shared what inspired the track; your guess is as good as mine.

“It’s sort of based on a girl at the gym,” he said softly with a smile. “She was a Nigerian and her name was Amaka, I was just like, “wow, like Kilode!”
This track unravels different meanings and subtle undertones to the simple experience of sensual intrigue. It is a track you’ll listen to once, then listen again, and then you begin to blast in through your speakers. The chorus hooks and would get your attention like a girly in a fine skirt and push you into singing out the lyrics to your crush.
