Bino’s new single ‘Nothing’s Real’ fuses neon-lit 2000s indie guitars with Joy Division’s brooding atmospherics, alongside digitally warped vocals that transform his indie/post-punk influences into something strikingly original.
The single continues to showcase the depth of his songwriting and perfectly captures the emotions rooted in the complexities of honesty within relationships. On the single, Bino shares: ‘I get annoyed when someone is not honest with what they want or need and they show their dissatisfaction in different ways or don’t show it at all. It ends up ruining things in the long run, especially in romantic relationships. I’m guilty of doing that as well. Sometimes it’s hard to find the courage to be honest about how you feel, even when it’s for the best.’
Following a run of summer shows and festival appearances, and the release of his debut singles ‘Cocktail Princess’ and follow-up ‘Isolated’, Bino Bames has earned tastemaker support from Clash, DIY, Wonderland, and The Line of Best Fit to name a few.
‘Nothing’s Real’ is the latest glimpse into Bino’s world. His debut EP ‘Gathers No Moss’ stands as his first body of work, pulling together threads of outsider indie and lo-fi experimentation into a bold opening statement from an artist who refuses to play by the rules.
Bino’s vision extends far beyond music. A true DIY polymath, he plays keys, drums, guitar and bass, produces his own demos, designs his artwork, directs his videos, and curates a distinct visual identity inspired as much by Andy Warhol and Spike Jonze as by his musical heroes Daniel Johnston, Elliott Smith, and Mac Miller. His growing fashion presence, with prominent appearances at Paris, Milan, and London Fashion Weeks, only underscores his status as a creative force cutting across music, art, and style.
Leaving home at 15, Bino escaped what he describes as ‘a place that was going to swallow me whole.’ What followed was a nomadic existence as he drifted through New York, LA, and Portland, existing on borrowed couches and borrowed time. Every late-night conversation, every underground show, every rain-slicked alleyway shaped his upcoming EP before he even realised it.
