DXTINY is a Nigerian Afrofusion singer and songwriter from Uyo who has been building his presence within the Lagos music scene with a melody-driven sound shaped by his experiences and musical influences.

On “Mama,” DXTINY teams up with Kunmie for a sultry R&B record centred on admiration, attraction and the excitement of connecting with someone special. Through playful compliments, cheeky lines and a catchy refrain, both artists express their affection for a woman whose confidence and appeal have caught their attention.

Throughout the song, DXTINY and Kunmie take turns making their intentions clear. From asking for her attention and promising to treat her right to inviting her to spend the weekend together, their verses capture the confidence, anticipation and flirtation that come with a new romantic interest. Their individual contributions complement each other, giving the record a smooth, conversational feel.

For DXTINY, the inspiration came from a personal experience. He explains that he was seeing someone and decided to turn his feelings at the time into a song. After completing it, he felt the record needed a guest verse but was unsure who would be the right fit. Kunmie and Johnny Drille crossed his mind, but he initially chose to leave the song alone.

That changed when DXTINY teased “Mama” on Instagram and Kunmie reached out to tell him how much he liked it. DXTINY immediately sent him the record, and Kunmie’s verse soon followed. What started as a personal expression of affection naturally grew into a collaboration between two artists.

With its smooth R&B feel, playful writing and infectious melodies, “Mama” captures the lighter, more exciting side of romance. DXTINY and Kunmie bring their personalities together on a record that makes room for both vulnerability and confidence.
