Simplifying ticket sales and event management for organisers

Forbes Africa recently named Burna Boy among its 2026 Icons, recognising Africans whose work has helped shape the continent’s past, present and future. For the Nigerian singer, the recognition reflects a career that has taken him from Grammy-winning albums to sold-out stadiums and international collaborations.

His 2021 Grammy win for Twice As Tall marked a major milestone, while performances at Madison Square Garden and London Stadium demonstrated the growing appetite for African artists in major international markets. But beyond the awards and venues, Burna Boy has built a career around a sound that draws from Nigerian experiences and African musical traditions while embracing different genres.

That identity is now finding another audience through gaming. In Grand Theft Auto VI, Burna Boy is associated with AfroBank FM, a radio station featuring African music, including amapiano, African classics and 3-step. Hosted by Burna Boy and Palmsy, the station introduces these sounds within one of gaming’s most recognisable fictional worlds

Burna Boy is not solely responsible for the international growth of African music. That progress reflects the work of generations of artists, producers, songwriters and industry professionals across the continent. His career, however, shows how an artist can build an international audience while keeping African identity central to the work.

The next challenge is ensuring that this visibility translates into lasting opportunities for the wider industry, from stronger creative infrastructure to better protection for artists’ work.

From Grammy history to stadium performances and now AfroBank FM, Burna Boy’s career continues to take African music into new spaces. His Forbes Africa recognition is another marker of that journey, one that shows how far his work has travelled beyond the music itself
