AN ENDLESS OCEAN TURNS “ZA” INTO A LIVING EXPERIENCE IN “TWO NIGHTS IN LAGOS”
AnEndlessOcean has continued to stand out within Nigeria’s contemporary music landscape, building an artistic world where alternative sounds, introspection, and Christian faith can exist without boundaries. Following Love Is A Machinery, a project that explored self-love as a journey from accepting oneself to understanding how that love extends outward, he turns his attention to something larger on “Za (Two Nights in Lagos)”: the limitless nature of God’s presence.
The live version carries the energy of someone completely assured in where he has found refuge, using repetition, vivid imagery, and fluid phrasing to capture the feeling of calling on a God who is always present and able to answer. That sense of scale was already evident during AnEndlessOcean’s two-night Lagos showcase in November 2025. During his performance of “Za,” he reimagined the record with an expanded arrangement featuring choir, keys, and a distinctive trumpet-and-saxophone motif that recalls the loose, jazz-inflected spirit of OutKast’s “SpottieOttieDopaliscious.” As the horns moved
through the arrangement, the audience responded with equal intensity, transforming the performance from a song into a communal experience.
There is an adventurous quality to “Za,” almost cinematic in its sense of movement, as though AnEndlessOcean is less interested in simply describing God’s presence than creating a space where listeners can experience it. The live arrangement heightens that feeling, giving the song room to breathe, build, and become something larger than its studio form. Coming two months after ‘Love Is A Machinery’, “Za” also represents an evolution in the conversation surrounding AnEndlessOcean’s recent work. If the album examined the journey, from learning to love oneself, to accepting who you are, and eventually extending that understanding outward, “Za” looks upward. It finds assurance in something beyond the self and explores what happens when personal freedom, identity, and faith converge.
“Za (Two Nights in Lagos)” reflects AnEndlessOcean’s ability to make contemporary Christian music without choosing between devotion and experimentation. It is a record where faith feels expansive, adventurous, and alive, and where a live audience can become part of the worship experience itself.
