Psam Breaks Down the Pieces  Behind His Collection “Until Death All Defeat Is Psychological” Album

“As long as you are still living and breathing, you can keep trying. Death is the final defeat. Everything else is psychological.” — Psam

That belief sits at the heart of Psam’s album “Until Death All Defeat Is Psychological”. The project is a collection of fashion and art pieces that tell stories about struggle, Lagos, history, and survival. Psam recently gave us a closer look at the stories behind some of the collection’s standout pieces.

Military Skateboard

The “Military Skateboard”, created by Psam and Chubby, represents a battle between the old world and the new. It brings together vintage and archaic ideas with modern warriors and soldiers. Psam says the piece is meant to make people ask questions, perhaps about change, conflict, and identity. The skateboard also comes with wheels, making it both an art piece and a functional object.

Made in Lagos Frame

The “Made in Lagos Artwork”, designed by Psam and  Patty, is a double-frame artwork inspired by Psam’s life in Lagos. One side reflects his time living and working in Banana Island, where he experienced a very different side of the city. The other side shows the Lagos many people know: traffic, busy roads, and the daily rush to catch the BRT bus. It also includes landmarks such as Civic Centre and references to music, entertainment, and the wider Lagos atmosphere. Psam sees it as a piece that could easily hang in a living room or dining room because it tells a story many Lagosians understand.

Until Death Scarf

The Until Death Scarf is one of the most important pieces in the collection. Psam connects it to the French Revolution and to Jean-Paul Marat, a writer who criticised the government and was eventually killed. For him, the scarf represents speaking the truth and refusing to give up. It also connects directly to the album title. Psam believes that no defeat is truly final while a person is still alive. As long as someone is breathing, they can continue trying, learning, and moving forward.

Stone Wash Tee and The Henley

The Stone Wash Tee and The Henley continue the Marat-inspired story. Psam, Gruesx, and Bidemitata designed the Henley, and it reflects the collaborative spirit of the album. Psam says bringing different artists together was an important part of the project because he wanted the collection to feel like a shared creative experience rather than a solo effort.

Until Death All Defeat Is Psychological Tee

One of Psam’s favourite pieces is the Until Death All Defeat Is Psychological Tee, especially the deluxe version with bold red and white lettering. The shirt carries the main message of the album: until a person dies, no life problem is impossible to overcome. Psam believes that death is the only final defeat. Everything else, no matter how painful or difficult, can still be faced, survived, and worked through.

Through these pieces, Psam turns clothing and art pieces into personal stories. The collection is not just about fashion; it is about Lagos, struggle, history, collaboration, and the belief that hope remains as long as life does.
